June 25, 2013 Razor Review – Lord L6
The Lord L6 is said to be one of the most cost effective razors in the market. This is a guest post by a member of a local tech forum on a wet shaving thread that has almost 50000 post. You can read the original post here.
Lord L6 review by Ximple.
The Shogun 3 piece ($2.60) and TTO ($6.50) razors from Mustafa have served me fine for a total of about 5 years so far. They’re cheap, reliable and get the job done. They’re great for newbies who are on a budget who want to try wetshaving. However, at this price point, these tools lack the bling and luxury factors of more the expensive razors.
Suggest you stay away from the Lord ($3.90) TTO since it is apparent that the workmanship is not so good and some bros here have mentioned about it’s poor quality in use.
For those who have dipped their feet into wetshaving and like it, there is another smaller upgrade instead of going directly for the $50+ dollar higher end safety razors like the Merkur 34C or Edwin Jagger 89.
There is highly under-rated razor that those at B & B forum rave about. It’s great as a first razor for newbies or those who want to move up from their Shogun.
The Egyptian made Lord Premium LP 1822 (L6) 3 piece safety razor below costs just S$15 (inclusive of postage to sg) from connaughtshaving.com
Unlike the usual 3 piece razor heads that are thin, the Lord’s 1822 head is made of thicker metal and is shaped like the Merkur 34C’s head. Refer to the side profile of the razor’s head.
Here are some pics of the entire razor. The razor’s finishing is nowhere as good as the higher end razors is more than 3x its price, but this razor has decent blade exposure and it’s handling is said to be good.
One point of warning though – the handle is made of aluminium. So when you clean it, remember not to use harsh chemicals or the aluminium will turn grey/black.

Razor. The Lord L6 (in the L1822 packaging) would be an outstanding shaving razor if it was $30, but it is about a tenth of this in its native Egypt and can be picked up for just a few dollars/pounds in the West. This is a 3 piece Tech type razor so the blade is held very rigidly. The highly chromed head is an almost exact copy of the highly rated Merkur head and, if anything, shaves even better. This is a top razor even by absolute standards. The long handle is aluminium which gives it a nice balance and which just adds to the control you have over it. And as this has, effectively, an infinite life, the cost of using it is zero.
